Job Position: Architectural Project Coordinator
Our architecture department consists of 12 people ranging in skills from architectural interns to senior project architects and designers. At any given time we are working on 35-50 projects. Of those projects, 15-20 will be under construction, another 15-20 projects will be in the design phases, and approximately 4-8 projects will be in the construction documents phase.
Our in-house construction company builds 75% of our architectural work. Our work is custom, high-end, and detail oriented. Over 2/3 of our work is single-family. Our commercial work is generally freestanding buildings for discriminating owners/users. We have been in the architectural business for over 40 years, and in the design-build business for the past 20.
The position available, Project Coordinator, consists of the daily oversight of 4-8 projects in varying stages from design through construction. A Project Coordinator is responsible for the successful planning, organizing, leading and controlling of their projects, and generally directly oversees 1-3 architectural interns and project assistants. In addition, because we are a design-build firm, an architectural Project Coordinator manages the interface of their projects with our estimating and construction departments.
This is a management / coordinating position, and one that is best filled by a person that not only is well versed in the architectural craft, but also enjoys—and is capable of—leading a project team.
Basic qualifications:
- Formal architectural degree
- 5 years experience in the architectural field
- Construction experience, a big plus
- Custom residential experience required
- Light commercial experience desirable
- Proven successful experience managing and leading architectural staff
- Ability to work well with, and positively motivate people
- Proficient in MicroStation J, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project 2000
- Formal and/or informal continuing education in management / leadership topics a plus
