Job Position: Project Manager

A Behal Sampson Dietz Project Manager leads the construction of 3-5 custom residential and / or light commercial projects at a time. Project sizes can range from $100,000 to $2 million in construction costs. Usually the total cost of all projects under a project manager’s supervision is approximately $1.5 to $4 million.

A Project Manager’s Responsibilities:

  • Negotiates and executes all sub trade and supplier contracts and purchase orders.
  • Directly supervises an on-site manager or superintendent stationed at each project site.
  • Acts as a liaison for the company to the Owner.
  • Schedules all the work for the projects and directs the execution of that work through the on-site Manager.
  • Assures all quality control standards are met or exceeded.
  • Prepares monthly applications for payment for the Owners.
  • Engineers details for the projects (Picks-up where the architects leave-off).
  • Maintains on-site safety.

  • A sound background and working skill in the operation of computer programs such as Microsoft Project and Microsoft Word is required.
  • Wood and light-gauge metal construction is the predominant method of assembly for BSD projects. Exceptional skill and knowledge of those methods is required.
  • A formal education in either Architecture or Construction Management is desirable.
  • 10 years experience in the construction field (some of which being hands-on) with a minimum of 5 years in project field-management is required. Experience in the management of multiple project sites simultaneously is a plus.
  • Specific experience in the design-build process on one-of-a-kind custom residential projects would be a perfect match for our company's typical client.
  • Exceptional people skills are a major requirement for the Project Manager position.
  • Creativity is a must.
